What is real-time continuous glucose monitoring?
Real-time Continuous glucose monitoring (rt-CGM) systems, such as Dexcom rt-CGM systems, measure glucose levels day and night, letting users confidently see how their glucose levels are changing over time without finger pricks* or scanning.
Rt-CGM provides a more complete picture of glucose levels compared to what can be obtained from a single reading from a blood glucose meter. More frequent access to glucose insights leads to more effective diabetes management for health care professionals and lasting results 5,6 for people in your care.
Who can benefit from a rt-CGM system?
Newly published guidelines from NICE (National Institute of Health and Care Excellence) now recommend that people with type 1 diabetes are offered a choice of glucose sensor, including rt-CGM systems, by the NHS 1,2 enabling people in your care to monitor their glucose levels without finger pricks.*
For people with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes, NICE now recommends that rt-CGM be considered as an alternative to intermittent scanning.1
